Mar. 24th, 2007 07:37 pmOK, I'm going through a kind of, well, crisis of faith at the moment. Don't worry; it's nothing earth-shattering. It deals with my wacky sports superstitions, so...
There is a good reason for "nofaves" being my online identity. Long ago, I got into hockey, and like most fans, picked a favorite player to adore. It wasn't long before something bad would happen to the guy -- he'd get traded or rather seriously injured. This was highly demoralizing for me, so for a number of seasons, I had no favorite Penguin. My last fave was a guy I thought was pretty safe: Ron Francis. He was our captain and the best two-way player we ever had. No way would we ever consider giving him up...
When he left, I swore never to have another fave, and I never went back on that promise. Occasionally, I'd get tempted, but it wouldn't take much more than that for the guy's play to head south.
For instance: during the Pens' recent 16-game winning streak, I found a wallpaper for my computer with a neat pic of Marc-Andre Fleury on it. Days afterward, his game slipped badly, resulting in his very public benching. It goes without saying that the wallpaper was history!
So now I have a dilemma. Recently, I made some icons and added them to my LJ stable. Specifically, these:

None of these three guys are playing as well as they were earlier in the season, but I don't want to drop the pretty pretty pics!
