I'm on vacation (continued...)
Sep. 18th, 2007 11:28 amI had a rather aimless day yesterday -- I was being a tad self-indulgent, I guess. Then this morning, my net connection went all wonky, later dropping altogether. In the midst of my call to Comcast, it magically reappeared YAY!
As I haven't had a true update in over a month, I'll put all this behind a cut.
School started at the end of August without incident. My middle daughter couldn't fit French into her sked, so we're both going to do the home study thing. She figures it'll give her a leg up for next year.
Both mine and hubby's work schedules got pretty insane this summer. Nice hot weather = WAY too many no-cool calls. 12-hour days became the norm for him! Meanwhile, Hot Foods' only full-time guy ended up out for over a month with pretty serious medical probs, leaving us all his lovely hours. Sure, the extra $$ wasn't bad, but I think I spent more conscious hours at work this summer than at home!
We did manage to get away to Lake Erie for a weekend in August, thank the Lord. We will not discuss the massive sunburn I gave myself, as it reflects badly on my (lack of) Common Sense...
At last, September arrived -- and with it, FOOTBALL!!! I didn't get to watch too much pre-season, since I was usually at work during the games. Didn't matter, though. The regular season has been so different from the bits of the five exhibition games I caught. The defense is efficient and deadly (in two games, we've given up one touchdown and one field goal), and Ben is showing signs of being the next Terry Bradshaw (only with size and mobility!). It's our luck, though, to have our first two opponents be teams in serious flux: the Browns had a QB camp holdout, so there was no clear leader on offense; the Bills lost three defensive starters FOR THE SEASON in their first game (including poor Kevin Everett) and lost that game to a last-second FG.
And with September comes another long-awaited event: PENS TRAINING CAMP!!! And this year (actually, this Thursday!) I'm going to an open practice! I can't wait until 10/5, when all the games count, but seeing them in person will tide me through till then.
Then next week, ALL my shows premiere. CSI: Miami on Monday, NCIS and House Tuesday, Criminal Minds Wednesday, CSI Thursday, Numb3rs Friday. And NCIS, CSI and Numb3rs are opening their respective seasons with a bang -- I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm praying real hard that the "Season of Secrets" experiment just goes bye-bye after ep 5.01, that Sara survives her flooded car, and that Colby really isn't Walking On The Dark Side (and that he survives Val Kilmer's tender mercies!). *Apologies to anyone on my flist who isn't into my fave shows*
Well, that's enough of an update for today. Gotta go cook a pot roast!
